چکیده

An effective way to improve sensor selectivity and stability is the use of catalytic filters to block interfering and poisoning gas molecules from reaching the sensor surface. Mesoporous silica with high resistivity and hugh surface areas are ideally suited as a base material for this application. When impregnated with proper catalysts, mesoporous silica has a great potential to eliminate responses to undesired gases even of thin-film andyor micro-machined sensors. In this paper, we report our initial results on thick film SnO -based gas sensors covered with a catalytic filter consisting of Pd and Pt loaded mesoporous silica. Results indicate that 2 selective oxidation of CO in the catalytic filter leads to the elimination of CO interference to a CH sensor with no perceptible 4 deterioration in sensing performance. 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. Preparation of Mesoporous and/or Macroporous SnO2-Based Powders and Their Gas-Sensing Properties as Thick Film Sensors

Mesoporous and/or macroporous SnO(2)-based powders have been prepared and their gas-sensing properties as thick film sensors towards H(2) and NO(2) have been investigated. The mesopores and macropores of various SnO(2)-based powders were controlled by self-assembly of sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate and polymethyl-methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres (ca. 800 nm in diameter), respectively. Effects of Surface Modification on the Recovery Time and Stability of Nanostructured Tin Oxide Thick Films Gas Sensors

Along with high sensitivity in detecting gas, the response and recovery times of semiconductor gas sensors are of considerable importance for real life applications. In most cases, the recovery time is more than the response time. At the same time, water vapor present in the ambient, is chemisorbed on the tin oxide, SnO2 surface and the water molecules dissociate into hydroxyl species, which ac...

Silica Supported Mesoporous Titania: A Green Catalyst for Removing Environmental Pollutants and Generating Green Energy

Abstract. Titania (TiO2) is one of the most unique catalysts, crucially important in photo-green chemistry. The mesoporous TiO2 has large surface area, uniform pore size and open frameworks for the transfer of mass and charges. TiO2 has photocatalytic activity which can degrade both organic and inorganic compounds. The band gap energy of TiO2 can be modified by doping various metal oxides to ma...
